ISLAMIC STORY
One night, the thief managed to enter the house of Malik bin Dinar by jumping over the wall. Once inside the house, the thief is disappointed to find that there is nothing worth stealing. Malik was busy in prayer. Realizing that he was not alone, he quickly finished his prayer and turned to face the thief. Without showing any sign of shock or fear, Malik greeted him contentedly and said, "My brother, may God forgive you, you entered my house and found nothing worthy of taking, yet I do not want it." That you should go without availing anything.” He went into another room and returned with a jug full of water. He looked into the thief's eyes and said, "Perform ablution and pray two rak'ahs, because if you do that, you will leave my house with a greater treasure than what you were looking for in the beginning." Humbled by the owner's manners and words, the thief said, "Yes, that is indeed a generous offer." After performing ablution and offering two rak'ahs of prayer, the thief said, "O master, would you mind if I stay for a little while, because I want to stay to pray two more rak'ahs?" Malik said, "Stay for whatever prayer Allah orders you now." The thief spent the whole night at the owner's house. He prayed till morning. Then the master said, "Leave now and be righteous." But instead of leaving, the thief said, "Would you mind if I stay here with you today, because I intend to fast?" "Stay as long as you like," said the owner. The thief stayed for several days, prayed in the late hours of each night and fasted during the day. When he finally decided to leave, the thief said, "Master, I have made a firm decision to repent of my sins and my former way of life." Malik said that it is in the hands of Allah. The man corrected his ways and began to live a life of goodness and obedience to Allah. Later, he met another thief who asked him, "Have you found your treasure yet?"
